The Giants improved to a perfect 4-0 in Giants Stadium this season with a hard-fought 29-17 victory Sunday over the San Francisco 49ers. The four home victories are one more than the Giants had here in both 2006 and 2007. Now 5-1, the Giants will now embark on a difficult stretch which has them playing Pittsburgh, Dallas and Philadlephia the next three weeks.
San Francisco dropped to 2-5.
The Giants scored on two Brandon Jacobs touchdown runs, Eli Manning’s scoring pass to Plaxico Burress, a pair of John Carney field goals and a safety. They had four takeaways on defense after getting two in the first five games and despite playing without two starting linebackers, Antonio Pierce and Gerris Wilkinson
San Francisco scored touchdowns on J.T. O’Sullivan’s 30-yard pass to rookie Josh Morgan and Nate Clements’ 74-yard return of a blocked field goal attempt. Joe Nedney added a field goal for the 49ers........... READ
