TRANSACTIONS:
 
-           Originally a 1st round (8th pick overall) draft choice by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2000…Signed by the Giants as an unrestricted free agent on March 17, 2005.

GIANTS NOTES:

-           Eli Manning’s favorite target since joining the team in 2005…Over the last 3 seasons has led the team in receptions (209), receiving yards (3,227) and touchdown catches (29)…The 29 Manning-to-Burress touchdowns are the most by any quarterback-wide receiver tandem in the NFL since the start of the 2005 season.
-           Has caught at least 60 passes in a season 6 times and more than 1,000 receiving yards in a season 4 times.
-           Scored the game-winning touchdown in the Giants’ Super Bowl XLII victory over New England by hauling in a 13-yard pass from Eli Manning in the end zone with 35 seconds remaining in the 4th quarter.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:

-          Has played in 118 regular season games with 115 starts and started all 12 postseason games in which he played. Burress has 470 career receptions for 7,391 yards (a 15.7-yard average) and 51 touchdowns. He has 46 postseason catches for 688 yards (a 14.9-yard average) and 6 scores.
-           In 2007, Burress again started all 20 regular season and postseason games despite an ankle injury that kept him out of practice virtually the entire season. He led the Giants team with 70 receptions, 1,025 yards and 12 touchdowns. The 12 touchdown receptions were a career high and left him tied in 2nd place on the Giants’ single-season list with Del Shofner, who had 12 scoring catches in 1962. The team record of 13 was set by Homer Jones in 1967.
-          Burress had 10 touchdown catches in 2006 and became the first Giant since Shofner in 1961-62 to post back-to-back seasons with 10 or more scoring catches.
-          Burress caught at least 1 touchdown pass in each of the Giants’ first 6 games (he had 8 overall in that span) become the 2nd player since 1970 with a touchdown reception in each of his first 6 games of a season. The other was Jerry Rice, who had at least 1 touchdown reception in 12 straight games in 1987. The Giants’ record for most consecutive games with a touchdown reception is 7, set by Kyle Rote in 1959-60.
-          The 2007 season was the 3rd time in Burress’ career had at least 70 catches in a season and the 4th time he topped 1,000 yards.
-          Burress combined with running back Brandon Jacobs (1,009 rushing yards) to give the Giants a 1,000-yard rusher and receiver in the same season for the 7th time in their history.
-           Burress set a Giants postseason record with 11 receptions in the NFC Championship Game in Green Bay, 1 more than Ike Hilliard had in the 2000 Championship Game victory over Minnesota…Burress’ 151 yards in the title game were the 3rd-highest 1-game total in team playoff history, behind only Bob Schnelker, who had 175 receiving yards vs. Baltimore on Dec. 27, 1959 and Hilliard, who had 155 in the title game against Minnesota.
-          Burress’ 23 career postseason catches with the Giants leave him 5th on the team’s career list, behind Amani Toomer (36), Mark Bavaro (30), Rob Carpenter (25) and Tiki Barber (24)…Burress’ 310 postseason yards place him 3rd on the team’s career list, behind Toomer (582) and Bavaro (366).
-           Opened the year at Dallas (9/9) with a season-high 8 receptions for 144 yards (his 2nd-highest total as a Giant) and a career-high 3 touchdowns. His 60-yard touchdown reception on the Giants’ 1st procession of the season was his longest of the year.
-           Did not catch a pass in the 1st half vs. the Jets (10/7), but finished with 5 receptions for 124 yards, including the game-winning 53-yard touchdown.
-           Caught 6 passes for 97 yards, including a 43-yard touchdown at Atlanta (10/15).
-           Finished with a team-high 7 receptions for 136 yards and a touchdown at Philadelphia (12/9). It was the 3rd time in the 2007 season Burress caught at least 7 passes in a game. He had 7 receptions vs. Minnesota (11/25) and 8 at Dallas. The 136 yards were his second-highest total of the season; Burress had 144 yards at Dallas. It was his 3rd 100-yard game of the season.
-           Caught a Giants postseason record 11 passes for 151 yards in the NFC Championship Game at Green Bay (1/20).
-          Burress caught 2 passes in Super Bowl XLII – Manning’s 1st and last throws of the game. The former went for 14 yards and a first down. The latter was the 13-yard game-winner with 35 seconds remaining.
-           In 2006, started all 15 games in which he played as well as the NFC Wild Card Game…He led the Giants with 988 receiving yards and a career-high 10 touchdown catches. His 63 receptions were second on the team, trailing only Jeremy Shockey (66). Burress was the first Giant with double-digit touchdown receptions since Earnest Gray had 10 in 1980.

 -          Did not play vs. Houston (11/5) because of a back injury.
-           Had 5 receptions for 89 yards and 2 touchdowns in the NFC Wild Card game at Philadelphia (1/7)…His 17-yard touchdown reception on the Giants’ 1st possession gave the team an early 7-0 lead…Burress’ 11-yard scoring catch in the 4th quarter tied the game at 20-20.
-           Finished with 6 receptions for 114 yards and a touchdown at Philadelphia (9/17)…His 31-yard touchdown reception in overtime gave the Giants a 30-24 victory…Burress’ 20-yard reception in the 3rd quarter converted a 3rd-and-18…Fumbled into the end zone after a 23-yard reception, but the ball was recovered by Tim Carter for a touchdown to bring the Giants within 10 at 24-14…His 16-yard reception on 3rd-and-8 in the 1st quarter helped set up Amani Toomer’s 37-yard touchdown catch.
-           Had a 50-yard touchdown reception to end the Giants’ 1st series of the game at Dallas (10/23).
-           In his 1st season with the Giants in 2005, Burress played in 16 regular season games with 15 starts and started the NFC Wild Card Game…He had team-high totals of 76 receptions and 1,214 yards and tied with Toomer and Jeremy Shockey for the lead with 7 touchdown catches…The 76 receptions were the 5th-highest total in team history and 2 shy of the career high he set with Pittsburgh in 2002 - and 41 more passes than he caught for the Steelers in 2004…Burress' 1,214 receiving yards were the 2nd-highest total in team history. He passed Homer Jones (1,209) in 1967. Toomer holds the team record with 1,343 in 2002…Burress was selected NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his Week 4 performance against St. Louis, when he caught 10 passes for 204 yards and 2 touchdowns.
-           Finished with 5 catches for 128 yards and a season-long 78-yard touchdown on a catch and run at Oakland (12/31). Also threw 2 key blocks to help spring Tiki Barber on his record 95-yard touchdown run in the regular-season finale at Oakland (12/31).
-           Finished with 6 receptions for a team-high 113 yards and a touchdown vs. Philadelphia (11/20). Caught a short pass after a double move on 3rd-and-2 in the 4th quarter that he turned into a 61-yard touchdown reception.
-           Recorded a team-high 5 receptions for 79 yards at San Francisco (11/6), including a spectacular 50-yard reception on the last play of the 3rd quarter to help set up Jacobs' 1-yard touchdown run that gave the Giants a 17-6 lead.
-           Had season-high totals of 10 catches, 204 yards and 2 touchdowns vs. St. Louis (10/2). The 10 catches are the most by a Giant since Barber had 10 vs. Atlanta on Nov. 9, 2003 and the most by a Giants wide receiver since Toomer had 10 at Indianapolis on Dec. 22, 2002. His 204 yards tied for the 3rd-highest total in Giants history. Shofner had 269 yards at Washington on Oct. 28, 1962, Gene "Choo Choo" Roberts had 212 at Green Bay on Nov. 13, 1949, and Toomer had 204 at Indianapolis on Dec. 22, 2002. It was the 19th time in Giants history a receiver caught at least 10 passes in a game. Burress is the 14th different player to accomplish the feat, and just the third wide receiver, joining Shofner and Toomer. His 2 touchdown catches (of 31 and 17 yards) made him the first Giant with two receiving touchdowns in a game since Ike Hilliard had 2 at Minnesota on Oct. 26, 2003.
-           In 2004, started all 11 games in which he played in his final season in Pittsburgh and finished 3rd on the 15-1 Steelers with 35 receptions for 698 yards and 5 touchdowns…His 19.9-yards-per-receptions average was 2nd in the NFL…Moved into 7th place on the Steelers’ all-time receptions list (244) and 8th place in receiving yardage with  3,824 yards…Hampered by a hamstring injury that forced him to miss 5 of the last 6 regular season games (vs. Washington 11/28, at Jacksonville 12/5, vs. Jets 12/12, at Giants 12/18 and at Buffalo 1/2).
-           In 2003, started all 16 games for the 3rd year in a row and finished with 60 receptions for 860 yards and 4 touchdowns.
-           Started all 16 games in 2002 and finished with career-high totals of 78 receptions for 1,325 yards and 7 touchdowns, a team-best 17.0-yard average.
-           Enjoyed a career game vs. Atlanta (11/10), when he had 9 receptions for a team-record 253 yards and 2 touchdowns. Had 4 catches of more than 30 yards, including a 62-yard score and a 50-yard catch off a Hail Mary pass that fell 1 yard short of the game-winning touchdown in overtime.
-           Recorded 6 receptions for 100 yards and a touchdown in AFC Wild Card Game vs. Cleveland (1/5). Burress and Hines Ward became Pittsburgh’s first pair of receivers to each record a 100-yard game in postseason play since Jan. 21, 1979, when John Stallworth and Lynn Swann achieved that feat in Super Bowl XIII.
-           In 2001, played and started in all 16 games for the 1st time. Caught 66 passes for 1,008 yards, his 1st 1,000-yard season, and scored 6 touchdowns…Led Pittsburgh with 10 postseason receptions for 151 yards and 1 TD.
-           In  2000, played in 12 games with 8 starts as a rookie…Caught 22 passes for 273 yards…Season ended prematurely because of a right wrist injury that required surgery…Was placed on injured reserve (11/3/00).
